This sweet little maternity photo session took place at the client’s home in the rural hills of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania outside of the little town of Shickshinny. They’re blessed with a quiet piece of woods and beautiful home along with a rescued Shepherd mix puppy.

We started outside, strolling through the woods a bit and trying a couple simple poses, then went into the living room to capture the expecting couple lounging on the couch with their dog. The light outside was warming up as the sun dipped lower. All those leaves makes it almost look like autumn in the yard! I had a great time attempting to grab some shots of the doggie – because she is lightening fast and does not hold still!

I strive to arrive with a few ideas and poses in my back pocket, but I’m really motivated to save captures of emotion, connection, and real life in a documentary approach.

I brought a small speed light on a stand, modified by a softbox for this shoot and utilized 3 different lenses to achieve varying looks.

These young parents-to-be have a great start on their family and I wish them the best with the baby’s delivery. Kudos to them for waiting to discover if baby is a boy or a girl.
