Rob and Charlene were married in July at the home of the groom’s sister, which happens to have a spectacular view of the Five Mountains overlooking Shickshinny, PA and the Susquehanna river valley. The wedding was outdoors, under a dramatically threatening sky, in the middle of an expansive field bursting with blooming monarda and flowing grasses. The rain itself held off until just after the ceremony, which is good luck, so they say, (plus a good excuse to play a certain Alanis Morrisette song).
Gorgeous locally grown flowers were provided by Gib’s Farm and arranged by the bridal party. This wedding had a huge bridal party – 12 bridesmaids and as many groomsmen! Friends and family came in from all over the US including Florida (where the bride and groom reside), Arizona, and Louisiana. The darling little granddaughter of the bride was the sleeping flower girl. The intimate ceremony was officiated by one of the groomsman. Charlene was clearly quite fond of all her bridesmaids and showed her appreciation with heartfelt words and a gift bracelet. Bridesmaids all wore dresses of their choice in a matching pale shade of petal and made their procession to The Psychedelic Furs’ Pretty in Pink. Dinner, catered by Kurian’s, included a whole roasted pig, amazing mac n cheese, and absolutely pouring rain all around the tents! Wedding cupcakes were created by Nannycakes and were absolutely delicious. DJ K-bomb productions rocked the dance floor on the porch until the wee hours of the morning. Congratulations to Mr + Mrs Birk!
